PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Charles Mellor is an experienced trial attorney and mediator, having mediated numerous cases to closure involving personal injury, property damage, construction, real estate, insurance claims and securities fraud. He has a strong background in facilitative mediation and litigation experience, representing both plaintiffs and defendants. This allows Mr. Mellor to offer a blend of extensive litigation experience with years of experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He is accomplished at analyzing litigation strategies and possesses strong conflict resolution and leadership skills.

For seven years Mr. Mellor served as Staff Trial Counsel for a major insurance company. In this role he continually assessed the risks and benefits associated with proceeding to trial on cases ranging in exposure from zero to million dollars.  In 1996, Mr. Mellor established his own law firm representing plaintiffs and defendants in litigated matters.  This combination of plaintiff and defense litigation experience, along with comprehensive mediation process training, allows Mr. Mellor to maintain control of negotiations and facilitate the resolution of cases. His mediation style assures that the parties assess the strengths and weaknesses of each side’s case, and then weigh the costs, risks and benefits of proceeding to trial, versus settlement. This process has allowed Mr. Mellor to develop reputation for finding resolution options not previously envisioned.
